Made in 1979 when Mosrite were operating out of Carson City, Nevada..this is an uber rare Mosrite ’65 Ventures reissue, with a very low serial number 178.
As you can probably tell, this did NOT come from a smoke, or pet free home…it’s been played and exposed to many a smoky bar. However, this is, without a doubt, the best Mosrite I have ever played, light, killer sounding pickups, and the Moseley tremolo is a treat to play.
The pots have been replaced with relatively new Dimarzio ones, and one of the Kluson Deluxe tuners has been replaced too. The small frets are low, but they were low to begin with, and aside from a touch of very minor pitting they are still very usable the way they are now.
There are initials on the butt of the neck inside ‘JJ’, and the way that the neck joins the body is so perfect it’s scary, especially considering that this is pre CNC. I should add that the neck is so very skinny in the cowboy chord area that it will scare off a few baseball bat players…but this guitar is a water sign, not an earth sign, ‘ya dig.
All in all, this guitar is a real piece of American guitar making history, and guitars from this period of Mosrite do not come on the market very often.
Surfs up.
